Underfloor Heating Installation
Whether for a new build, a renovation or retrofitting your property, underfloor heating is a highly effective,
energy and cost-efficient method of heating for all kinds of properties.
Underfloor Heating Solutions
Whether it's for a new build, renovating or retrofitting a floor or simply a room, Blueflame can provide you with the engineering expertise in helping specify and install the most cost-efficient underfloor heating system for your property.
Invariably underfloor heating (or UHF) installatIon is particularly cost-effective and straightforward to schedule as part of a new build project, however with the variety of underfloor heating options, even most renovations and building updates are simple too.
The experience of underfloor heating is unlike any other heating system. Once experienced, you understand why as one of the main physical benefits is how they feel. Heat gently radiates upwards from the floor, making usually cold floors warm to the touch. The underfloor heating warmth is even too, and so eliminates any cold spots or draughts in a room that are common with radiators.
Warm water underfloor heating solutions use far lower flow temperatures than a radiator system also, and because it covers a much larger surface area it is still able to heat the room effectively. For this reason, UFH is around 25% more efficient than radiators.
Aesthetically a UFH system is ‘invisible’ as the tubing is hidden, mainly beneath the floor, which also frees up wall space, making this solution ideal for open plan living or rooms such as kitchens where space is at a premium.
Finallly there is a safety aspect worth mentioning. With no exposed hot or sharp edges underfloor heating is a safe option for young children and the elderly. Also for allergy UFH is great for allergy sufferers as it provides warmth free from draughts and dust movements that can aggravate conditions.
By selecting from some of Europe’s leading manufacturers we can always ensure that the most energy efficient and suitable heating system is specified for your needs. Combine this with three decades of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of complete central heating systems and it is easy to see why Blueflame are the smarter choice for all your heating requirements. We are also qualified and experienced in the technical integration of renewable energy components into your existing system to save you money as energy bills rise.

Underfloor Heating. Radiators & Pipework
Blueflame will tailor heating and pipework systems that specifically meet your property and lifestyle.
Underfloor Heating UFH
Underfloor heating is the most aesthetic system possible leaving complete freedom for interior design in your home and completely eliminates the need for radiators. As well as these great benefits, under floor heating is cheaper to run as it heats from the floor up rather than from the ceiling down as with a radiator or forced air system. With under floor heating you can achieve a comfort level at a lower temperature than with a radiator system plus there is the obvious saving in running costs.
No matter how large or small the job is or what your installation requirements are we can help. We can design and install systems, locate under floor heating leaks, trace and diagnose hidden pipes and underfloor systems. and carry out all types of repair as well as system cleans and fault finding.
Radiator Repair, Servicing & Replacement
Radiators can present a number of common issues over time - such as taking time to get hot, getting too hot or even not getting hot at all, then they can be noisy, have leaking valves or providing inconsistent heat around the house.
Blueflame are experienced in resolving issues including installing a replacement radiator or upgrading radiator and related heating pipework . We also typically provide
Heating pipework alterations and efficiency realignment with your central heating system.
System conversions from gravity fed to fully pumped.
Fitting of thermostatic radiator valves making your system more efficient
Underfloor Heating FAQ
Q - Will installing UFH raise my floor profile?
A - Yes, UFH will usually raise the profile of the floor. The amount it is raised by will depend on a number of factors such as how much insulation you need to add, pipe size, and whether you need a screed and floor finish. There are however some products that get ‘carved’ into an existing screed, in which case there would be no additional build up other than the final floor finish.
Q - Does UFH work with an air source heat pump?
A - UFH works very well with a heat pump, but it must be designed for the specified water flow temperature. If the pipes are placed too far apart or are too thin then the system could be very inefficient.
Q - Can I combine radiators with UFH?
A - Yes, you can combine a wet UFH system with radiators. If the water flow temperature is the same in the floor and in the radiators then the radiators can potentially run off the same manifold.
If you are using a boiler as the heat source and have a standard radiator system but want to add wet UFH then a blending valve is installed on the manifold to limit the water flow temperature.
Q - Can I put a rug over UFH?
A - You can lay a low tog rug over a wet UFH system, but it will affect the heat output. If you plan to put a rug, or furniture for that matter, in a room then it is best to design the pipes to be a lot closer together, around 100mm, so that there is enough length exposed to a free surface.
